Wild Edibles Walk
Wild Edibles Walk Dighton Rock State Park Bay Road, Berkely, MA This program is offered by the Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Friends of Dighton Rock Museum. Sunday, September 12th, 1:30pm to 2:30pm Come along with a DCR Interpreter and explore some of the wild edibles that grow in the 85 acre Dighton Rock State Park. Also, the Dighton Rock Museum will be staffed by the Friends of Dighton Rock Museum and open to the public from 1pm to 3pm; be sure to stop by to see the 11-foot-high "glacial erratic" boulder known as Dighton Rock that once rested on the shore of the Taunton River adjacent to this park. Dighton Rock is covered with petroglyphs, carved designs of ancient and uncertain origin, and is installed in a small museum along with exhibits that contain several possible explanations of the carvings, which range from Portuguese explorers to Native Americans. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Dighton Rock Museum and the Department of Conservation and Recreation. Come along for a walk in the dark along the beach and jetty. Then we�ll spend some time viewing any boats coming through the Cape Cod Canal. Seeing the boats all lit up at night as they cruise the canal is a great sight! Meet at the dirt parking lot near the jetty. There will be signs along the way to guide you to the right spot. Come to a day of community at the sixth annual Lakeville Arts & Music Festival. Which will be sure to bring a day of culture, crafts, a delicious variety of food, musical entertainment, artistic talents and memories of the day for everyone who attends. Some other activities throughout the day to check out: There will be a variety of artisans selling their many beautiful hand made wares such as many kinds of jewelry, several different styles of stoneware pottery, homemade dog/cat collars, hand woven baskets, hand made wooden toys of original design, photography, handmade candies, hand etched glass, hand made flags and garden flags, and natural body care products, to mention a few. Check out the many children's activities and adult workshops going on all day inside the Lakeville Library and a display of local and regional artists inside the United Church of Christ. There will be a pie baking contest as well as special entertainment if you enjoy trivia questions, bring your lawn chair to watch "Game Shows To Go". Watch a masterpiece as it is created on a "special" surface by Joel Yau, a successful commercial artist. These are just a few of the highlights of the day. Join us to see everything!

Join John as he seeks this seasonal visitor to the beach, and take in the sights of the season, including snow buntings, wintering waterfowl and possibly other birds of prey. The Town of Lakeville was founded in 1853 and is located on the Plymouth-Bristol County border. The town was named for its beautiful and numerous lakes which take up about 4000 acres of the town.

The community has about 10000 year round residents and many recreational opportunities for them to take advantage of. For instance Lakeville offers little league and soccer or soft ball and football.
